To prevent all the junk, sand or worse from getting into the variator and the rest of the crankcase, the air sucked in, to cool the variator, must be filtered.

That’s what this filter is for, replace it at every major service. Then everything stays clean and performs well, and you have less wear and tear.

Before installation, soak briefly in engine oil, squeeze gently so no oil drips out after installation, then install.
